Reconstructing Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Activities in Areas of Crisis
- Safeguarding the World’s Water: 2011 Report on USAID Fiscal Year 2010 Water Sector Activities - July 2011 [PDF, 3.5MB]
This report shows that during FY 2010, USAID allocated more than $642 million for water sector activities. The amount allocated for water supply, sanitation, and hygiene was $520 million. During this time, USAID provided 2.8 million people with first-time or improved water supply and 2.8 million people with first-time or improved sanitation. Disinfection products, partially or wholly supported by USAID, were used to purify almost 12 billion liters of drinking water, more than 10 billion liters of which were made available to people in African countries.
