Garrison Commander’s Environmental Policy

MEMORANDUM FOR SEE DISTRIBUTION

SUBJECT:  United States Army Garrison Humphreys Policy Letter #25, Garrison Commander’s Environmental Policy


1.  The proponent for this policy is the Directorate of Public Works.

2.  This policy is effective immediately.  It remains in effect until rescinded or superseded.

3.  We are committed to reducing the adverse environmental impacts resulting from our daily operations and to taking a leading role in being conscientious stewards of the Korean lands, historic buildings, species at risk, and sacred and archaeological sites entrusted to this Garrison.  Therefore, this command will:

 a. Protect the health and safety of all Soldiers, civilian employees, contractors, volunteers, and the general public who visit our facilities.

 b. Implement and maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) that minimizes the negative impact of our operations on the environment.  Our EMS will provide a framework for setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets to ensure the continual improvement of our environmental performance.

 c. Operate in an environmentally responsible manner and in complete compliance with all environmental laws, regulations, and directives.

 d. Promote environmental awareness and train our personnel to perform their duties in support of these environmental policies.

 e. Implement a Pollution Prevention (P2) Program that maximizes the use of source reduction, recycling, reuse and other measures that conserves our natural resources and fully protects our environment.

 f. Monitor all operations, including those of our tenant and partner organizations, to ensure that practices in our workplaces conform to this policy and to determine our progress toward achieving our objectives and targets.

4.  Let’s all do our part to conform to this policy and preserve the environment here at USAG Humphreys.  Together, we will make USAG-Humphreys the best place to live, work, serve, train and play.
