Clean Energy Jobs

It is time to build the new clean energy economy. America should be the world leader in clean energy and new energy technologies that are made in America and work for America.

Our state has always been a leader when it comes to creating clean energy jobs and I believe that California will be the hub of the new clean energy economy, developing the solar, wind, geothermal, and other energy technologies that we can export to the world. We have already created hundreds of thousands of clean energy jobs in California, and, with the right incentives, we can create far more.

I have strongly supported new tax credits for the domestic manufacturing of solar panels and the deployment of solar energy systems that create good-paying jobs here at home. I have pressed the Department of Energy to make funding available for the construction of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and biomass; and during the debate over the Recovery Act I supported $6 billion for this purpose. I have already visited California companies that are benefiting from these investments and I’ve seen personally how they have created thousands of additional jobs in our state.

I will continue to work on legislation to create clean energy jobs and cut carbon pollution, while fighting efforts to weaken our landmark environmental laws that protect our communities and public health.
