The Consulate General in Auckland provides all U.S. consular services in New Zealand: The Embassy in Wellington is unable to provide consular services.
Passports for Persons 16 years and older
To obtain the first passport for a person 16 years or older, or if your passport has been expired for more than 5 years, the applicant must apply in person to the Auckland Consulate at Level 3, Citigroup Center, 23 Customs Street East, Auckland (cnr. Commerce St). Consulate location map. Note: An appointment is needed for this service.
You will need to:
- A Completed Passport Application DS-11.
- Present Proof of U.S. Citizenship
- Present Proof of Identity
- Provide one Passport Photo (the photo must be 2" x 2" in size, clear and on a white, or off-white background).
- Pay the Applicable Fee
- Provide a Social Security Number
- Provide a courier envelope for your passport to be mailed to you
- Make an appointment.
