As announced in January, we are changing our medical benefit plans for all
salaried UT-Battelle employees effective January 1, 2013. This includes
exempt, non-exempt, full-time, part-time and casual staff. These same changes
will go into effect for bargaining unit staff the following year, on January 1,
2014.
The current Point of Service (POS) plan is changing to a new Open Access Plus
plan (OAP). The current Open Access plan is being replaced by a new Consumer
Driven Health Plan called Choice Fund that includes a Health Savings Account
(HSA). You may choose one of these new options, or waive coverage, during the
open enrollment period for 2013 which is October 8-31, 2012. It's important to
note that if you make no election during Open Enrollment, you will be defaulted
into the Open Access Plus plan.
In addition to these medical plan changes, coverage
has been enhanced to include an expanded nation-wide network of providers,
bariatric surgery and coverage for domestic partners under both the medical and
dental plans.
