As a general rule, students enrolled in DL courses are self-disciplined, highly motivated and responsible. These students work independently using Lotus Notes; their teacher and electronic classmates may be anywhere in the world. Many former DL students have commented how well this type of study prepared them for college – no one pressured them to do the work meaning it was 100 percent of their own desire and effort. Assistance is provided locally through an adult facilitator as well as by e-mail; DL teachers are also available by telephone. Courses listed in this course description book are identified as Distance Learning by the addition of “via telecommunications” to the course title.
