Skilled Afghan workers employed by Remote Hydrolight, assist the villagers of Daste Riwat, Panjshayr province in bolting together the penstock Oct. 12, 2008. This construction is part of a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project to build 105 micro-hydropower plants in seven of 34 Afghanistan provinces. The contract to install these units was awarded in late 2006 to Remote HydroLight and Advanced Engineering Associates International. The unit in Daste Riwat became operational in January 2009. The last unit in Parwan province is scheduled to be completed by July 2011.
