Owen Schumacher, president of Remote HydroLight, explains the cradle-to-grave process of how a micro-hydropower plant facility was built and installed in the village of Daste Riwat, Panjshayr province back in January 2009, to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers representatives during a meeting May 21, 2011. The three Afghan males (lower right) are fully trained and know everything Schumacher knows about building and repairing the plant should it malfunction. The installation of the unit was part of a USACE contract awarded in late 2006 to Remote HydroLight and Advanced Engineering Associates International to construct 105 units in seven of 34 Afghan provinces.
