One of 15 skilled Afghan workers, employed by Remote Hydrolight in Afghanistan, builds the crossflow for a turbine Jan. 4, 2007, at a workshop in the country's capital city of Kabul. Turbines similar to this one were used to support a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project to build 105 micro-hydropower plants in seven of 34 Afghanistan provinces. The contract to install these units was awarded in late 2006 to Remote HydroLight and Advanced Engineering Associates International. The last unit in Parwan province is scheduled to be completed by July 2011.
