Advanced technologies play an integral part in implementing the mission of the FBI, from the use of the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) to scan millions of unique fingerprints, to the tracking of critical records, to communications with other Federal agencies, and far beyond. Additionally, the role of technology within the Bureau continues to take on an ever more important role in today�s post 9/11 world.

The Office of IT Policy and Planning is responsible for optimizing FBI IT resources through policy and planning, providing guidance for integrating FBI IT strategies and solutions, and managing the governance framework that ensures compliance.
