Hey! My name is Julie Kane and I’m a member of the great Class of 2013. I grew up in Westwood, Massachusetts, which is a small town outside of Boston. (Naturally, I love the Red Sox.) I actually didn’t really know anything about the Academy until the summer before my senior year, but I applied and came here because I wanted something more than the “regular” college experience and the Academy seemed like an adventure. So far, I love it. It’s really challenging, but you’ll actually have a lot of fun and I’ve never met such a great group of people.

Here at the Academy, I run cross country and outdoor track and I play the saxophone in the Regimental Band. My major is Electrical Engineering. I’m also involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Sustainability Club, Ski and Ride Club, and the newly formed Women’s Leadership Council.

My favorite things to do are run and hike, and someday I’m going to hike the Appalachian Trial. I’m learning how to play the guitar, my favorite book is Three Cups of Tea, and I love all types of music.
