Description:The Synchrotron Ultraviolet Radiation Facility SURF III is operated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology NIST as a stable light source for radiometry and research. SURF covers the wavelength range from the far infrared to the soft x-ray. Different measurements and services are provided at SURF: These include the calibration of detectors based on an absolute cryogenic radiometer or ionization chambers in the ultraviolet and extreme-ultraviolet spectral range; the absolute calibration of ultraviolet sources, based on the calculability of synchrotron radiation; the measurement of optical properties in the ultraviolet and extreme-ultraviolet spectral ranges; and the calibration of whole spectrometer systems in the ultraviolet and extreme-ultraviolet spectral range, also based on the calculability of synchrotron radiation.
