Even though you are not leaving active duty at this time, you can start shaping your future while you are deployed. Soldiers whose separation date will occur during deployment or within 90 days following redeployment are eligible to receive preseparation counseling and complete DD Form 2648 either before they deploy or while they are deployed. By using the information you learn in this briefing to research service providers and benefits while you are deployed, you will be well on your way to planning and preparing for your transition from active duty. You can complete DD Form 2648 online, at you convenience, or schedule a briefing at your ACAP Center. Some installations may even provide preseparation counseling during Soldier Readiness Programs (SRP). While you are deployed, you can use this website to receive employment assistance training, write resumes and cover letters and communicate with a counselor.
