VEHICLE BUYING OVERVIEW

GSA’s Vehicle Buying Overview, [PDF, 220KB], was designed to serve as an educational tool to walk new customers through the vehicle ordering process and to further assist those who have placed orders previously. The Overview provides information on GSA’s vehicle ordering programs, ordering cycle, and vehicle shipment times.

EMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

The EPA’s On-Highway Heavy Diesel Engine Emissions Requirements, [Word, 51.5KB], effective January 1, 2007, is applicable to all vehicles over 8500 pounds GVWR, including pick-ups, light, medium/heavy cab chassis/trucks, ambulances, buses, wreckers and carriers ordered through GSA.

QUALITY DEFICIENCY REPORTING

We are proud to announce that after many years of submitting paper Standard Form 368, Quality Deficiency Reports (QDRs), we have developed an electronic process for your convenience. Our system, Reporting Vehicle Problems, allows our experienced professional engineering staff to process your reports effectively and efficiently.

NEW WARRANTY CUSTOMER SERVICE PROCEDURES

GSA continues to streamline and offer you more efficient processes to help serve you better. With this in mind, we have established new warranty/customer service procedures with each of our major light duty vehicle suppliers - GM, Chrysler, Ford, and RP Automotive. Each supplier understands there are situations that require additional assistance when a vehicle has been taken to your local dealership for service, but the dealer was unable to provide a resolution, whether it is for parts availability, recall coverage or repairs.

To address these situations, the suppliers have provided streamlined procedures for customer assistance. The attached letters, from each supplier, outline that specific company’s procedure. Each contains contact information, hours of availability, and lists of information they will need to serve you, and each vendor will assign a case number to track your case and ensure a prompt response.

ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE

Roadside assistance usually gets tucked into the package for free when you buy a new or certified pre-owned car. Compiled below is a list of roadside assistance coverage for new cars based on manufacturer. Each auto maker sets its own limits on how long the free service will last by mileage or age of vehicle. 

DELIVERY DAMAGE

GSA continues to look for ways to provide information you need to help you manage your fleet and serve you better. With this in mind, we have established new damage claim procedures with each of our major light duty vehicle suppliers – General Motors, Chrysler, Ford, and RP Automotive. Each supplier knows there are situations when a vehicle has been damaged during shipping to your location and you need to be able to get a speedy resolution and get your new vehicle on the road.

To address these situations, the suppliers have provided streamlined procedures for customer assistance to report vehicle damage at the time of delivery. The attached letters, from each supplier, outline that specific company’s procedure. Each contains contact information, hours of availability, and lists of information they will need to serve you; and each vendor will track your case and ensure a prompt response.
