Operations and Maintenance

The LANDFIRE Program provides for operations and maintenance activities to ensure that LANDFIRE data products remain useful and accessible to the user community. In 2008, the Business Case and Technical Plan addressed:

• support for fire management and natural resource management programs
• delivery of timely and quality products that reflect recent changes in landscape conditions
• development of processes to improve LANDFIRE data products

LANDFIRE incorporates user contributed disturbance and treatment data and feedback to help inform product updates. The latest product release reflects landscape conditions as of 2008. Efforts to update the data products to reflect the landscape as of 2010 are underway.

Version updates assure LANDFIRE data remain useful and accessible to:

• Fire Program Analysis (FPA)
• Wildland Fire Decision Support System (WFDSS)
• the larger user community
