CPSC Staff meeting with all interested parties for a Public Workshop on Establishment of a Public Consumer Product Safety Incident Database. The CPSC hosted a two-day staff-conducted public workshop to receive views from all interested parties on establishing a public consumer product safety incident database. The workshop sought input from stakeholders on five aspects of the public database: data analysis and reporting; reports of harm; manufacturer notification and response; additional database content, and materially inaccurate information.

The Commission and staff discussed guidance Document on Testing and Certification
The Commission conducted a public hearing to receive views from all interested parties about the draft guidance for industry entitled "July 2009 Staff Draft Technical Guidance on Unblockable Drains." The guidance specifies requirement for a drain cover, such that, when attached to a drain, it constitutes an unblockable drain.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission conducted a public hearing to receive views from all interested parties about its agenda and priorities for Commission attention during fiscal year 2011, which begins October 1, 2010, and about its current strategic plan. The hearing was held in the CPSC Hearing Room 420 at 10:00 a.m. Also see Federal Register notice dated August 11, 2009, page 40170 for more information.
The roundtable was held to consult with interested stakeholders as dictated in section 104 of the CPSIA and to solicit input regarding the adequacy of the current voluntary and mandatory standards. This event will provide an opportunity for attendees to briefly present relevant information, ideas, proposals, or concerns about current or future standards as they relate to the infant sleep environment.
The meeting discussed the requirements of section 108 of the CPSIA--Prohibition on the Sale of Certain Products Containing Specified Phthalates. Topics will include the requirements of section 108, scope of products subject to section 108, and phthalates test procedure.
The workshop provided an open forum to facilitate effective communication among stakeholders about progress achieved in the Human and Environmental Exposure Assessment research category of the NNI's Strategy for Nanotechnology-Related Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Research (PDF), and about the path forward for addressing research needs in this category.
