LANDFIRE would like to acknowledge and thank everyone who has contributed data.

LANDFIRE relies on user contributed plot data for training sites in mapping processes and may also use it during updates. All acceptable plot data will be converted and archived for evaluation and potential use in future mapping needs.

The LANDFIRE reference database (LFRDB) consists of plot data that:

  • describes vegetation or fuel condition
  • comes from government and non-government sources
  • was originally compiled for inventory, monitoring, mapping, and research

Plot data:

  • should describe existing vegetation or fuel conditions
  • can be subsets or similar field data
  • must be geo-referenced

Acceptable formats:

  • tabular - text files, spreadsheets, relational databases
  • spatial - shapefiles, geodatabases, coverages

Supporting information:

  • field and code definitions
  • digital photos, project descriptions, or final reports

Refer to Plot Data Processing on LFRDB methods.
