Internal Audit

action plan

To maintain and build upon its core values, the Department’s plan of action includes (but is not limited to) the following specific activities:

1. Emphasis on the University Ethics Policy during orientation of new Departmental employees.
2. Use of Internal Audit staff meetings as a forum to openly and honestly discuss ethics and values issues.
3. Dedication of Departmental resources to professional development that promotes the core values, and encouragement of staff participation in University-sponsored training related to equity, diversity, and ethical behavior.
4. Communication with other Departments and attendance at Vice Presidential staff meetings to reiterate Internal Audit's focus on the future.
5. Staff sharing of individual experiences that illustrate promotion of Departmental ideas/values.
6. Staying abreast of auditing profession ideas and alert to community, state, national, and international events that are relevant to the University community.
7. Committing to the core values in all actions and interactions.
8. Acceptance of responsibility and accountability.
9. Completion of conflict of interest statements.
10. Implementation of post-audit customer questionnaires.
11. Periodic discussion with Departmental personnel to ensure continued promotion of these ideas.

Goals and strategies may change, but values remain constant. The Internal Audit Department recognizes the value of a shared vision and a commitment-based team. Members of the department choose to contribute to the growth and excellence of the University and the Department through participation in campus activities, professional organizations, and community service. However, it is recognized that the commitment to personal excellence through individual responsibility and integrity, treating others fairly and with respect, and the sharing of knowledge and expertise with one another is a matter of individual choice.
