plastic construction that conforms to the requirements of
the U.S. Postal Service.

Can I install a commercial
or custom made mailbox support? |
|
Many types of custom and commercially available mailboxes and mailbox supports
are potentially hazardous if hit by a vehicle. TxDOT will only allow mailboxes
which are U.S. Postal Service approved and safety supports which have been crash
tested and known to be safe.

Can I personalize or
decorate my mailbox and/or mailbox support? |
|
Yes, you may paint or apply stickers or decals for names, addresses and/or
designs. However, other decorative items that are attached add weight and can
become hazardous objects if the mailbox were to be struck by a vehicle. These
items may not be
attached to the mailbox or to its support.
