Indigent Health Care The Indigent Health Care And Treatment Act (Chapter 61 of the Health And Safety Code) defines the responsibilities of counties, hospital districts, and public hospitals in providing medical care to residents who are considered indigent.

Maternal & Child Health Health Provides links to information for consumers of maternal and child health services, administrative documents for MCH contractors, and related materials for public health professionals.

Newborn Screening All infants born in Texas are mandated by state law to be screened for 28 disorders (including hearing). Early treatment can prevent serious complications such as growth problems, developmental delays, deafness or blindness, mental retardation, seizures or even early death.

Oral Health Services Program Improves the oral health of school-aged Texans and prevents dental disease through the provision of preventative dental services.

Texas Health Steps-THSteps Texas Health Steps is a special program for children from birth through age 20 who have Medicaid. Texas Health Steps provides regular medical checkups, dental checkups and treatment for babies, children, teens and young adults.

Texas Primary Care Office To improve the health of Texans who live in underserved areas, through timely and accurate assessment, planning, and assistance, to increase access to primary care providers of medical, dental, and mental health services.

WIC WIC provides: Nutrition education, Food supplements, Referrals for health and social services for pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children under age five who are at nutritional risk.
