Osteoporosis Awareness and Education

Osteoporosis logo

Each year, osteoporosis and its associated health problems cost Texans about $977 million. Approximately 1.9 million Texans have osteoporosis or low bone mass and experience 72,000 associated fractures each year. The good news is that while bone mass begins to deteriorate through normal aging beginning in a person's fourth decade of life, there is no age at which it is too late to prevent fractures by taking steps to prevent bone loss.
