About the Radio Science Systems Group

The work we do:

• Plan the implementation of the Radio Science experiments along with the investigators
• Define the requirements on all aspects of the experiments and resolves intra- and inter-experiment conflicts
• Submit and integrate Radio Science requirements into the plans of the flight project, DSN, and other multi-mission organizations
• Provide specifications for spacecraft and DSN equipment based on the experiment's needs for hardware, software and procedures, monitors the development of the equipment and participates in testing the hardware or the output product
• Review (and participates in the negotiations leading to) the schedule of station tracking coverage
• Develop and integrate spacecraft and ground operation sequences for the acquisition of experiment data by interfacing with the mission control team, spacecraft team, navigation team, and other elements of the projects
• Decide spacecraft configuration (USO-reference, telemetry mod, ranging, etc.) and station configuration (sampling rates, filter selection, channel selection, Doppler rate, ranging parameters, etc.)
• Coordinate the process of data acquisition by conducting real-time operations and collecting the data observables
• Receive, validate, copy, log, and archive all data products in preparation for scientific analysis
• Assist in scientific analysis
