- Provincial Noxious Weed
- taprooted perennial growing to 1.3 metres in height; much
branched wiry stems covered with stiff, reddish-brown downward
pointing hairs at the base; stems have a milky juice; very small
leaves give plant a "skeleton-like' appearance; small yellow
flowers
- taproot can penetrate 2.5 metres in the soil; new plant arise
from lateral root buds in upper 0.6 metres of soil
- can produce up to 15,000 seeds annually
