The Board of Regents wants the UNT System to be as effective and efficient as possible in delivering services to the campuses. Thus, they want Shared Services created to streamline how support functions are delivered in order to better manage delivery and service costs. Essentially, one way of doing things is less expensive than 2 or 3 ways of doing the same thing. Two major groups are being affected by the Shared Services initiative: IT personnel, and business operations personnel. The purpose is to hold down costs of operating services so that, as much as possible, funding goes to support the primary missions of education, research and service.
