Bureau of Industry and Security Mission Statement: Advance U.S. national security, foreign policy, and economic objectives by ensuring an effective export control and treaty compliance system and promoting continued U.S. strategic technology leadership.

A primary mission of BIS is the accurate, consistent and timely evaluation and processing of licenses for proposed exports and re-exports of goods and technology from the United States. BIS's objective is to protect U.S. national security, foreign policy, and economic interests without imposing undue regulatory burdens on legitimate international trade.

The Bureau of Industry and Security's Online Training Room offers an introductory series of easy-to-use training modules, including the first half of the Essentials of Export Controls seminar and Deemed Export training that we currently offer around the United States. This service will save exporters and reexporters, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, both time and money, and provide flexibility to those who would like to learn more about our regulations.
