Program and Project Managers (FAC-P/PM)

This certification program establishes the necessary competencies, training, and experience requirements for program and project managers in civilian agencies to become certified to manage the acquisition-related aspects of projects.

FAC-P/PM will recognize three levels of certification—entry/apprentice, mid level/journeyman and senior/expert. Each of the three certification levels has experience, training, and other development activity requirements. The FAC-P/PM certification is not a step certification meaning that individuals may be certified at the senior/expert level without having been certified at the mid-level/journeyman and at the entry/apprentice levels. Likewise, to receive a mid level/journeyman FAC-P/PM certification, an individual does not have to hold an entry/apprentice level certification.

OFPP Policy Memo on FAC-P/PM
The Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP) policy memorandum (PDF 188KB) dated April 25, 2007 announced the establishment of a structured development program for program and project managers identified as the Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers (FAC-P/PM).

  • Vendor Consortium: Available FAC-P/PM Training from Vendors
This site includes a list of vendor course offerings that map to FAC-P/PM training course areas. You'll find vendor's name, course description, method of training (online or classroom), and length of training as well as a point of contact to register. In addition there is a search function that allows you to search by vendor, FAC-P/PM course, method of training, etc. A frequently asked question (FAQ) link is forthcoming. A link to vendor submission guidelines is available for those vendors who are interested in being a part of the Vendor Consortium.
  • Continuous Learning Points (CLP) Requirements
Individuals certified with FAC-P/PM must accumulate 80 CLPs every two years to maintain their certification. Refer to the OFPP memo on FAC-P/PM to see what activities and training will fulfill the CLP requirements for FAC-P/PM
