These are near real-time images of Mount St. Helens, taken from the Johnston Ridge Observatory (JRO) using our VolcanoCam Classic camera and the new VolcanoCamHD camera. The (JRO) and VolcanoCams are located at an elevation of approximately 4,500 feet, about five miles from the volcano. You are looking approximately south-southeast across the North Fork Toutle River Valley. The VolcanoCam images automatically update approximately every five minutes. VolcanoCam News Update For Friday, 08 May 2009
The Mount St. Helens VolcanoCam is maintained by the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument.
The Mount St. Helens VolcanoCam receives no government funding. In fact, there is no budget at all for the VolcanoCam. We thank our longstanding non-profit partner, the Northwest Interpretive Association for their continuing support for the VolcanoCams, especially our VolcanoCam viewers who support us through the NWIA.
Staff support for the VolcanoCam comes from several of us as time permits. Unfortunately our time is too often quite limited.
