health care services to San Joaquin Valley residents and training
medical professionals in the Valley. About 40 to 50 percent of the
doctors trained locally stay in the area to practice.

The Latino Center for Medical Education and Research seeks to
increase the number of Latino physicians in Central California by
assisting local Latino students to compete successfully for medical
school admission and to prepare Latino physicians for the study
of Latino primary-care health issues.
