Attorney Positions

If you are interested in obtaining a position as an Assistant U. S. Attorney in the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, send a resume and cover letter to the Executive Assistant United States Attorney, William J. Muller, Re: Application Proposal, 271 Cadman Plaza East, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11201.  Label envelope Re: Employment. You will then be asked to submit a formal application to the office, along with other supporting materials.  Applications for attorney positions are accepted year-round. When attorney vacancies arise, applications are reviewed to identify qualified candidates and interviews are scheduled. Experience requirements vary according to the needs of the office, but generally at least two years of relevant attorney work experience is required.  Applicants are required to make a commitment to serve in the office for at least three years, although Assistant U. S. Attorneys typically remain in the office for significantly longer terms.

Support Staff Positions

Support Staff positions are non-attorney positions for employees who work in conjuction with prosecutors in carrying out the mission of the United States Attorney's Office. Applications will be accepted for currently available positions only. Follow the instructions listed in the vacancy announcements, which includes addressing quality ranking factors. You may apply for most jobs by submitting a resume with a cover letter, or the Optional Application for Federal Employment (Form OF612). The Office of Personnel Management Career Opportunities listing will provide the information that must be contained in a resume. Be sure to comply with all requirements of the job vacancy announcement.
