About the SCORE Organization SCORE was created in 1964 by the Small Business Administration (SBA) to provide management assistance to Small Businesses. As an independent non-profit association, operating with SBA funding, SCORE works with the SBA and other agencies to strengthen local and national economies by promoting the success of small businesses. SCORE is an association of volunteer business counselors, providing professional guidance through a national network of 389 chapters consisting of over 11,500 volunteers. Since 1964 SCORE served more than 4.5 million clients with more than 1.2 million volunteer hours.
