The information provided below includes descriptions of those actions taken by the FCC related to the DTV Transition that may be of interest to consumers, broadcasters and others directly involved in the transition to digital broadcasting.
RFQ08000048 – Digital Television (DTV) Consumer Assistance for Converter
Box Installation
The FCC seeks grass roots organizations and community-based organizations to help educate consumers, assist with converter box procurement and installation, establish and staff help centers, and conduct post-deadline assistance. Based on the experience of other countries that have gone through the transition, it appears that a large amount of activity takes place two to four weeks before the transition deadline and then two weeks after the deadline. Therefore, planning with grass roots organizations and community-based organizations through June 2009 is extremely important. This hyperlink is the abstract of the FedBizOpps website posting.
