Security Training

Course List

Security Risk Communication

Course Description: This highly interactive course discusses risk communication principles, including the seven cardinal rules of risk communication, how to develop key messages, and tools for successful risk communication. The course focuses on water security issues under SDWA. Case studies present situations that drinking water professionals are likely to encounter, such as vandalism, malfunctioning computer systems, and human error. Working with these case studies, students in the standard model prepare statements and perform mock interviews that are videotaped for a critique by the class. These group exercises reinforce the risk communication tools and techniques.
