Laboratory Certification: Chemical Parameters

Course Description: This course is designed to meet the need for training Federal and State personnel whose responsibilities include evaluation of laboratories that analyze potable water for chemical parameters. Sufficient instruction will be given to allow the trainees to inspect and certify laboratories that analyze potable water for chemical parameters. Students will be required to write a report reviewing sampling, personnel, records, reports, quality control, and method and equipment needs of a laboratory. Inspections will be conducted in accordance with the current Federal criteria and procedures. Students will submit the report and pass a post-course test to complete the course.

Comments: Only people with responsibility for evaluating laboratories that analyze potable water for chemical parameters should apply. People attending this training must have a working knowledge of the approved methods required under SDWA. Familiarity with methods is expected of the attendees. Trainees should be familiar with their State and Regional EPA certification criteria. Prospective trainees must go through their respective Regional Quality Assurance Coordinators in order to secure a place in this training.

Laboratory Certification: Microbiological Parameters

Course Description: This course is designed to meet the need for training Federal and State personnel whose responsibilities include evaluating laboratories that analyze potable water for microbiological parameters. Sufficient instruction will be given to allow trainees to inspect and certify laboratories that analyze potable water for microbiological parameters. Students will be required to write a report reviewing sampling, personnel, records, reports, quality control, and method and equipment needs of the laboratory. Inspections will be conducted in accordance with the current Federal criteria and procedures. Students will submit the report and pass a post-course test to complete the course.
