Information Technology
The Library provides a wide variety of financial, corporate, technical, scientific, and regulatory/statutory information pertaining to regulated facilities, chemicals, pollution control technologies, potentially responsible parties, and other topics.

NEIC Library services available to the public include:
- Assists users in identifying and accessing EPA’s publicly-searchable databases
- Loans unique Library materials through the Inter-Library Loan (ILL) system.
- Identifies electronic access to EPA technical reports, news, data sources & Internet sources
- Makes referrals to EPA information sources
- Instructs in the use of the EPA Library Catalog and the EPA Library Network
Specialized resources for EPA employees only.
Information research by the NEIC librarians ranges from legal to business to chemical production/chemical engineering.
Examples of some types of research requests include:
- technical literature searches for environmental effects and degradation of specific chemicals
- recent business expansion activities of a potentially-responsible party (PRP) at a specific industrial facility
- emissions from cement plants burning hazardous waste as fuel
- docket documents from the early 1970s relating to current enforcement actions
- articles describing bioterrorism situations worldwide
- full text of current proposed regulations
- legislative history of environmental laws.

NEIC Information Resources include policy and guidance documents and some publications.
The NEIC Library is one of twenty-eight EPA Libraries in the EPA National Library Network and participates in the Network’s Online Library System ("OLS").
