Today in Gallery History
On May 5, 1971, the National Gallery of Art held a press conference to present final plans for the projected East Building, designed by architect I. M. Pei. The plans were developed during two and a half years of intensive work by the architect and his design team, working closely with the Building Committee of the Board of Trustees.
