Proposed Changes to IHS - Office of Information Technology Support Packages

Tribal Consultation

A Dear Tribal Leader Letter was sent out on October 29, 2008 explaining that IHS - Office of Information Technology is seeking Tribal input for its proposed restructuring of its Information Technology Support Packages. Tribal Consultation was held during the Indian Health Information Management Conference in Phoenix, AZ on December 17, 2008 from 10:00am to 1:00pm in the Regency Ballroom.

  1. Has the current proposed changes been withdrawn??
  2. YES,   the proposed changes has been withdrawn and removed from this website.

  3. From my understanding, there is a joint Tribal- IHS workgroup being formed to look at proposing changes to the Director
  4. YES  A DTLL was sent out on March 23, 2009 with details on the Tribal Workgroup. See link below for the DTLL.

  5. Will the proposed changes to OIT Support Packages be postponed till 2011
  6. YES

  7. Will their be more Tribal Consultation on proposed changes
  8. YES  The comment/suggestion period has been extended till May 1, 2009. During this time, a Tribal - OIT Workgroup is being established. After May 1, 2009, the workgroup will get together to look at additional comments and suggestions. This workgroup will make recommendations on further Tribal Consultation and any proposed changes.

  9. Why are the Support Packages being changed
  10. Right Now, the current support packages are a mixture of services that result in 14 different choices for support. In order to minimize the confusion for both Federal and Tribal staff on exactly what IHS - Office of Information Technology is to provide, there is a proposal to restructure the support packages to the following: services that are offered by each investment are placed in their respective support packages
