The Emissions Characterization and Prevention Branch (ECPB) is part of the National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL), Air Pollution Prevention and Control Division (APPCD). The Branch's mission is to research and develop new and more accurate methods for estimating emissions from sources posing a risk to human health and ecology and to develop and demonstrate technological solutions for these emissions. ECPB's research areas include pollution prevention (P2), stationary source emissions characterization, mobile source ozone precursor emissions characterization, fine particle (PM 2.5) emissions characterization, and biogenic emissions characterization.
