The maritime module was developed in response to requirements outlined in the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002.  This Act mandates that any facility or vessel potentially involved in a transportation security incident conduct a vulnerability assessment and submit a security plan to the United States Coast Guard.  The Coast Guard defines a transportation security incident as "a security incident that results in a significant loss of life, environmental damage, transportation system disruption, or economic disruption in a particular area."

Our Maritime Vulnerability Identification Self-Assessment Tool (VISAT) is to be used by Company Security Officers, Vessel Security Officers and Facility Security Officers.  To request a User ID and Password to access VISAT, please send an E-mail to the Intermodal Operations/Risk Management Program (tsarisk@dhs.gov) with the following information:
