EPA Applauds Environmental Champions

In conjunction with Earth Day, EPA presented Environmental Quality Awards to representatives from across Region 2 for their efforts to protect the environment. EPA also recognized a student and a school from New York that received the President's Environmental Youth Award. "Let their extraordinary contributions remind us all that we can make our world a better place and individuals really inspire others and make a lasting difference," said EPA Acting Regional Administrator George Pavlou.

EPA Mentors Edison, NJ Students to Promote Science Education

On May 6, at EPA's Edison Laboratories, students and EPA scientists demonstrated experiments in microbiology, organic chemistry, and metals analysis through inductively-coupled plasmas. The students, from Edison High School and JP Stevens High School, were selected to take part in an EPA mentoring program to explore future careers in environmental science.
