The EPA shares pesticide information with other countries with the goal of developing common or compatible international approaches to pesticide review, registration and standards. Ultimately, the Agency hopes that this sharing of knowledge will lead to improved food safety, a reduced regulatory burden on national governments, more robust scientific procedures and fewer trade problems. EPA sends notices to other governments on important regulatory decisions made in the United States related to pesticides, food safety, and pest management. The Agency participates in voluntary international information exchange programs such as the United Nations' Prior Informed Consent (PIC) procedures. Finally, the EPA also provides to developing countries basic technical, legal, and logistical assistance on pesticides.
