Background

On May 4, 2000, SBC Communications Inc. ("SBC") and BellSouth Corporation ("BellSouth") filed applications pursuant to Sections 214 and 310(d) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U.S.C. §§ 214, 310(d), seeking Commission approval to transfer control of or assign to an SBC/BellSouth joint venture, Alloy LLC, licenses and authorizations currently controlled by subsidiaries and affiliates of either SBC or BellSouth. These applications pertain to licenses for the Experimental Radio Service, Cellular Radiotelephone Service, Personal Communications Services, Private Land Mobile Radio Services, Specialized Mobile Radio Service ("SMR") and Fixed Microwave Services, as well as international Section 214 authorizations.
