THE BRADY POINT SITE (8NA921), NASSAU COUNTY, FL

Project Type: Phase III Data Recovery

Project Description: ESI conducted Phase III data recovery and archival research at the Brady Point Site (8NA921) in Nassau County, Florida. This large multicomponent site covers about 50 acres and is located on a low bluff on the bank of the Intracoastal Waterway. Three areas were targeted for excavation (Loci A-C), revealing Native American artifacts dating to the Late Archaic through Contact Periods Noteworthy finds include the detection of two prehistoric structures, as interpreted by post stain configuration, evidence that relates the contact period occupation to the Santa Catalina de Santa Maria Mission on nearby Amelia Island, as well as documentation of two superimposed 19th century historic period domestic occupations.
