The Mobile District manages more than a half million acres of land and water at twelve natural resources projects in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi. These projects operate 454 recreation areas that include campgrounds, picnic areas, playgrounds, beaches, marinas, boat ramps, parks and nature trails.
See map below.

Each year, Mobile District projects host more than 33 million visitors who come to enjoy the many recreation opportunities available at our rivers and lakes.

WATER SAFETY
The Corps is actively involved in promoting water safety education. At that link you will find educational materials, current programs, products and partnerships used throughout the community to promote a safe experience on our lakes and rivers. The Mobile District is also active in the National Water Safety Congress and sponsors many initiatives to promote water safety through watersafety.usace.army.mil.
Remember to always wear your life jacket when riding in a boat. Just like a car seat belt, your life jacket can't work if you don't wear it.

CAMPING The Corps of Engineers operates 64 campgrounds with more than 6,300 campsites in the Mobile District.  Many of these sites are reservable on the web at http://www.recreation.gov. Specific site amenities are listed for reservable sites.

FISHING Whether you are looking for bank fishing or boat fishing, bass, bream, trout or catfish, the Mobile District has a fishing spot for you. State and local fish and game laws apply on Corps lakes and a state fishing license is required. Many states sponsor an Angler Award program where the largest fish caught during the year of each species is recognized with an award.

BOATING From fishing boats, to skiers, to personal watercraft and sightseeing vessels, there is something for everyone. All vessels on Corps waters must be registered with the registration numbers posted on the hull with the exception of certain small craft, such as canoes or kayaks, which may not need to be registered.

RAMP STATUS NOTE:  While boat launching ramps are available at all of our projects, the current drought in the southeast is affecting their usability at some projects. You can check the status of a specific boat ramp at any lake by calling the project office/visitor center.

HUNTING All hunting seasons are set by the appropriate state or local governing body. State hunting licenses are required at all areas open to hunting on Corps of Engineers property. Some states require an additional stamp for hunting in wildlife management areas. Some areas have additional restrictions or requirements.

SPECIAL EVENTS:  Any event that falls outside of the scope of general recreation, such as a fishing tournament, boat regatta, music festival, fireworks display, film or television production, large-scale picnic, wedding, or fair may require a special event permit. Contact your respective project office for information on obtaining a permit.
