Mythic History cover Mythic History of Garlic
by James Anderson

To celebrate the International Herb Society's naming of garlic as "2004 Herb of the Year", Jim Anderson has created the first ever garlic comic book. In its 40 pages of droll humour, Jim takes us from garlic's origin in the dim recess of pre-history, to its spread across our planet by ancient cultures, to its migration to other worlds in search of the final frontier.
The first story, "The Journey of Tzan" tells how garlic first got its heat. Next,"Uzbek the Bulbarian" imparts how garlic spread from its humble home in the barren steppes of central Asia to grace banquet tables at the four corners of the earth. Finally, "Clove Encounters of the Zerd Kind" spotlights garlic's role as protector of culinary diversity in the far reaches of outer space.
The "Mythic History of Garlic" is the perfect antidote to those long hours of toiling in the hot sun. Gardeners! Grab a copy! Sit in the shade and enjoy.

Linda and Fred's book coverGarlic Garlic Garlic
by Linda and Fred Griffith

When Fred and Linda Griffith, the James Beard award winning authors of Onions, Onions, Onions, decided to research and write about a new subject, they didn't sit at home and read what others have written. They launched themselves into a cross country adventure, meeting and eating with garlic growers, processors, restaurant owners and world class chefs, food connoisseurs and purveyors from Boston to New Orleans to Gilroy, California. You'll meet many of these memorable characters in vignettes interspersed throughout the book.

With the wealth of information they gleaned through conversations and candle lit dinners, and their own testing and tasting, they have created the most complete Garlic cookbook to date. It begins with a section, Garlic in the Kitchen, complete with tips on preparing garlic for cooking and descriptions of many of the most popular garlic strains. They continue with over 200 recipes, from appetizers to desserts, all worthy of 5 star restaurant status.
