Insects are drawn by different scents like children drawn in from play by the aroma of chocolate chip cookies in the oven. Pheromones are scents used primarily for mating and food locating. In rubber or gels they release small amounts over 1-3 months. We now offer pheromone lures for monitoring over 100 pests. Some can also be used for mass trapping or to stimulate aggregations. Many other moth scents available on request. Growers large and small can now get more cost-effective mating disruption in large and small plantings from California peaches to Iowa corn to New Jersey cranberries.

 A small bag hung on a stick evenly emits pheromone by a new Metered Semiochemical Timed Release System (MSTRS™) for 60 days.as part of programs against Oriental Fruit Moth, European Corn Borer, Blackheaded Fireworm and Sparganothis fruitworm. Place at 4-7 bags per acre with higher density in grassy areas where ECB mate. Trials show half as
much damage as untreated controls using this simple ECB mating disruption. These products use synthetic chemicals, but they are used in small amounts, usually not in contact with the crop, and so are allowed in organic farming. Lures can be stored in the freezer to maintain high potency.
