Announcing 2008 Biological Control Internship

 

We offer a unique chance to a student majoring in entomology, sustainable agriculture or agricultural business marketing. Our interns are eager to learn about and promote biological pest control and sustainable agriculture. Our team is dedicated and works well together. Our interns learn the latest knowledge about commercially available biological pest control resources and how to help others use them effectively.

 

Biological Control Technical &/or Marketing Intern (Paid)

 

48 hours/week at $12/hour; Start April or May; end Sept to Dec 2008 (Min 5 months; max 9 months if your work contributes to the development of our company after the busy business season ends in Oct)

 

Description:
Help answer incoming calls re pest problems and biological solutions and process orders
Assist with all aspects of customer service and sales
Assist with assembly, packaging and shipping of products as needed,
Test products and do quality checks
May help lead in development and implementation of marketing projects
May participate in fieldwork, consulting and educational projects

 

Qualifications:
Enthusiasm for learning about sustainable agriculture and biological pest control
Effective verbal and written communication in English (bilingual with Spanish a big plus)
Computer skills including Windows, MS Word and Excel.
Ability to learn data entry skills within Quickbooks software.
Work smoothly in a standard office and shipping room setting
Good manual dexterity and workspace organization
For field experience, be able to walk on unsurfaced roads and crop rows carrying 25 lb vacuum insect collector, have California driver’s license, clean driving record, ability to drive automatic pick-up
For marketing experience, have knowledge and skill with databases, website development, editing and publishing knowledge and skill useful, not required
