Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College

17 July 2007
Dear Tribal Community member:

Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College has just been through an amazing year. In April of 2007, we experienced a very positive site visit by the Higher Learning Commission which resulted in a recommendation for initial accreditation. Once that recommendation is approved and implemented, SCTC can obtain the .edu designation reserved for accredited schools. In addition, SCTC will offer enhanced student services that include the areas of technology, tutoring, and library hours. These enhanced services must somehow be funded. In the past, SCTC’s tuition and fees have been quite low in comparison to other colleges. SCTC is raising tuition and fees for the first time, but even with this increase, the cost to attend SCTC will continue to be lower than the cost of other two-year and four-year institutions in the area. The increase is needed for SCTC to continue to offer the level of service and attention that sets our school apart.  To be fiscally responsible, the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College Board of Regents has approved the following increases in tuition and fees to begin in the fall of 2007:

Tuition                                   $60.00 per credit hour

Application Fee                        $25.00 (new students)

Late Registration Fee                $25.00 (for those who register after semester has begun)

Student Service Fee                 $25.00 per credit hour

We at Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College look forward to serving your educational needs in the next academic year and in the future.

Sincerely,
Karen M. Radell, PhD
President
