Mission Statement

It is A.A.Y.A.’s mission to heighten awareness of the role that sports play in the lives of tribal youth and to increase the overall number of tribal youth participating in scholastic and recreational sports.
Overview

A.A.Y.A. has teamed up with Central Michigan University Athletics to promote academic success and increased participation in school sports. By participating with our youth during school visits and athletic events, A.A.Y.A. offers tribal youth experiences from both the classroom and the playing field. Through this relationship, the youth in this community will have the opportunity to view college games, meet college athletes, and participate in athletic clinics.
A.A.Y.A. views sports as an alternative to drugs and alcohol. By encouraging athletics, we are strengthening our children’s resistance against less productive activities.
