You and your patrons can purchase individual articles from IngentaConnect via pay-per-view, using a credit card or by setting up a payment account. This basic functionality can be further enhanced with additional modules from our IngentaConnect Complete service to deliver a sophisticated document delivery service.

Simple article access via credit card

Ingenta offers two simple ways of purchasing articles via pay-per-view.

If you are buying a single article, choose the "Buy now" button on the article's abstract page for the quickest, easiest transaction. This option charges the price of the article (including any applicable taxes and delivery charges) to the credit card or payment account with which your registration is associated. With one simple click, you have purchased a license which allows you to view, download or save the article for 24 hours.

Alternatively, if you wish to purchase multiple articles within the same transaction, choose the "Add to cart" button, which notes that you wish to purchase the current article while allowing you to continue browsing for other articles. Once you have added all required articles to your cart, you can choose to complete the transaction with the "checkout" option. Once purchased, all articles will be available for viewing, downloading or saving for 24 hours.

Pay-per-view charges are set by the individual publisher, together with an IngentaConnect delivery charge of $10.00 for online and $15.00 for fax or Ariel deliveries. Issues and volumes of certain publications can also be purchased, and there are also a number of publications with samples issues or free trials available.

IngentaConnect accepts all major credit cards.

“The first time I used IngentaConnect I was so impressed at the same day service that I haven't stopped using it since.”

Controlled purchasing via payment account

Setting up a payment account allows you to control your budget, while providing patrons with access to articles from non-subscribed publications:

"Carleton patrons do use Ingenta a lot. It's a one-stop shopping service where patrons can search, order and receive their journal articles through unmediated ordering. This is a bonus for our patrons."

» Callista Kelly, Carleton University Library, USA

Prevention of duplicate purchases

Our IngentaConnect Complete service offers a holdings blocking module, which allows you to upload details of licensed content held elsewhere in your library's collection. This information is then used to prevent your users from purchasing content from us that you already license from another provider (whether on- or offline). You thereby save money by avoiding duplications of expenditure.

If your institution has a link server, this feature can be further enhanced with OpenURL links via your resolver, helping you to ensure users avoid the frustration of "dead ends" and can always reach a licensed version of the material they seek.
