Toxicological Information
The contaminant data comes from the ATSDR
iHazDat application and the
Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA)
Toxic Release
Inventory (TRI)
program.
Sites and Facilities Data
The hazardous waste site and facility data comes from the ATSDR
iHazDat application which houses a subset of HazDat and the EPA TRI program.
HazDat, the Hazardous Substance Release/Health Effects Database, is the scientific and
administrative database developed to provide access to information on the
release of hazardous substances from Superfund sites or from emergency events
and on the effects of hazardous substances on the health of human populations.
EPA TRI, the Environmental Protection Agency Toxic Release Inventory program contains
information on toxic chemical releases and waste management activities
reported annually by certain industries as well as federal facilities.
Environmental Health WebMaps uses a subset of the iHazDat data that includes
active National Priority List sites and active ATSDR Petition sites and TRI data
as an additional informational source.
GIS Mapping
The geographical mapping interface tools are provided by the ATSDR Geographic
Research, Analysis and Services Program (GRASP).
Federal and State Programs
The program data comes from NCEH/ATSDR, NCEH/ATSDR funded, and other federal
and state agencies programs. Some of the programs featured in Environmental
Health WebMaps are the NCEH Lead Prevention program, Pediatric Environmental
Health Specialty Unit program, and State Health Departments.
Public Health Resource Information
The resource information comes from NCEH/ATSDR. Users will have access to
valuable resources including the ATSDR ToxFAQs™, Toxicological Profiles, and
Public Health Assessments.
Toxic Release Inventory (TRI)
The TRI
data is updated and maintained by the
EPA
. The EPA and state environmental agencies annually collect data from
industrial facilities where a release or transfer of certain toxic chemicals
has occurred.
